The computer that I call Arlt 2001 has been built by Arlt in 2001. It has a floppy disk drive, an RS232 connector and cannot boot from USB. It is a 32bit compi.

I cannot boot it with Ubuntu 10.11, the monitor does not work then. I cannot install SUSE 12.1, the monitor does not work then. The only way to start it that I found so far is with a Knoppix 6.7 CD, fb800x600 mode.

Installing Knoppix 7.02

On 2012-06-10 I installed Knoppix 7.02 on it. Here are the boot options that the DVD chooses and that allow you to see something on your monitor:

cat /proc/cmdline

ramdisk_size=100000 lang=en apm=power-off vga=794 video=1280x1024 xmodule=fbdev initrd=minirt.gz nomce libata.force=noncq hpsa.hpsa_allow_any=1 loglevel=1 tz=localtime BOOT_IMAGE=linux

Installing Windows 95

To install Windows 95 on it, you will need a Windows 95 boot floppy, a Windows 95 boot CD (I got mine from eBay) and a registration code.

  • boot from floppy
  • fdisk c:
  • format c:
  • change drive to s:
  • call setup.exe
